Meet the Advisory Board...

Dave Sebald is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Texas at SanAntonio and a founding member of UTSA's Institute for Music Research (IMR). He holds a Ph.D. in music education from Michigan State University with cognates in instructional technology and educational product development. Since
completing his 1981 dissertation on the development of multimedia products for use in teacher training, he has actively pursued his interests in this area by writing articles, creating multimedia instructional tools, and presentingnumerous clinics throughout the nation on the application of multimedia to all areas of education. Recent productivity has included development of the
"GETIT" CD-ROM (Geoscience Education Through Interactive Technology), an
educational project funded by the National Science Foundation, and the forthcoming CD-ROM Companion to the "Handbook of Music Psychology", an IMR project funded by the Texaco Foundation.

At UTSA, Dr. Sebald teaches courses in computer applications in music and multimedia development and serves as technology advisor to the music division and the IMR. As web master for the music division he controls a powerful vehicle for exploring cutting edge technologies in distance education. In 1992 Dr. Sebald initiated the Technological Directions in Music Learning Conference, an international event sponsored by the IMR and held each January in San Antonio. (http://imr.utsa.edu/conf.htm) As an outgrowth of this conference he initiated in summer, 2000, the TDML ejournal, an online forum for sharing new concepts in the application of technology to music education at all levels. In addition to the above activities, Dr. Sebald directs a multimedia consulting/production company, Advanced Instructional Media (http://www.aim-ed.com), which over the past decade has created numerous educational products including nationally distributed instructional videos and CD-ROMs and instructional web sites.
