The TI:ME National Conference 2010 will be held in conjunction with the New Jersey Music Educators Association Conference. The event takes place February 18-20 at the East Brunswick Hilton and Towers, Brunswick, NJ. Musician and music educator Don Muro will present the Keynote Address Thursday evening of the conference. The conference promises a number of exciting lectures, demonstrations and hands-on experiences on a variety of topics in music technology for all levels of music education including a variety of software applications, teaching resources, internet resources, digital audio, and many, many more. There also will be a number of music performance utilizing music technologies for winds, keyboards, and other electronic instruments. This year’s presenters include James Frankel, Robin Hodson, Richard Dammers, Tom Rudolph, Amy Burns, Keith Mason, Joe Pisano—only to name a few. Keep watching this website for updates on the conference.
Ohio MEA and TI:ME members will be convening in downtown Cincinnati January 28 – 30 at the Duke Energy Convention Center. It‘s hard to point out specific TI:ME highlights of the conference since there are so many, but a few of the most unique presentations will provide a starting point.
Floyd Richmond is one of our national board members and chair of the education and curriculum committee. His session is Creating An Internet Radio or Television Station. William Bauer from Case Western Reserve is doing a session on the iPhone and iPod Touch in Music Education. Bill is a great, national resource for TI:ME. He also serves on our national board. Other national board members presenting sessions are Sandi MacLeod, the VT MIDI Project and Jane Kuehne from Auburn University. Sandi is introducing Noteflight, and Jane is Destroying Rachmaninoff Using Cubase SE!
You can see that we have plenty of interesting and exciting sessions, but there are two other outstanding items to mention. Our keynote presenter is V. J. Manzo from Montclair State University and Keane University. He is the creator of EAMIR (Electro-Acoustic Musically Interactive Room.) He will be showing us what EAMIR is all about and providing lots of hands-on fun for all of us.
First thing Friday morning we have guest presenters from Snow College in Utah. They are flying in their multi-media performance ensemble to demonstrate how they combine video, dancers, singers, and a string ensemble with computer control. To find out what all of that means you need to be there in the Ballroom of the Convention Center.
