TI:ME, the Technology Institute for Music Educators, once again brought together some of the nations most outstanding music technology educators with leading music software designers, MIDI hardware manufacturers, and music technology merchants in presenting its third National Music Technology Conference, held concurrently with the MENC 2002 National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. On April 10, TI:ME presenters provided an intensive technology experience for Pre-Conference attendees in fully-equipped Macintosh and Wintel computer labs and presented hands-on experiences, lectures, demonstrations, and music technology concerts. This array of presentations continued throughout the MENC three-day conference and addressed the desires of music educators to understand the role of technology in the music curriculum, including notation, sequencing, and multimedia software; internet and web applications; digital audio; and computer-assisted instruction in theory and history. In addition, TI:ME addressed issues related to fund raising, technology ensemble performance, designing a technology lab, and music technology research.
The list of presenters was impressive, including educators such as David Mash (Vice President for Information Technology at Berklee College), Thomas Rudolph (Haverford School District), Floyd Richmond (West Chester University), Don Muro (Hofstra University), Stefani Langol (Director of Music Technology, Saint Ann's School) Lynn Purse (Duquesne University), Thomas Hughes (Texas Tech University), Damon Sink (University of Dayton), George J. Hess (Central Michigan University), Rocky J. Reuter (Capital University), and many others; as well as leading corporate presenters such as Steven Estrella (StevenEstrella.com), Ken Johnson (SoundTree/Korg), Tom Carruth (Coda Music), David Dvorin (eMagic), Larry Marchese (Sibelius), Larry Harms (Roland), Greg Smith (Lentines Music), and representatives from Fender, Yamaha, eMedia, Techniques, ECS, and others. The 2002 conference followed up on extremely successful collaborations with
state meetings of the Pennsylvania (1999) and Ohio (2001) Music Education
Associations. TI:ME's third conference truly put TI:ME in the national eye
as it held concurrently with the MENC 2002 National Conference April 10-13,
2002 in Nashville.
The 2002 TI:ME Conference was made possible by the generous support of NAMM (The International Music Products Association) and IAEKM (The International Association of Keyboard Manufacturers). TI:ME maintains Auxiliary Organization status with MENC. This web site is maintained by StevenEstrella.com with hosting generously provided by Berklee College of Music.
